Mr. Johnson was one of the health instructors at a small country junior high school in the Midwestern part of the United States. For "Alcohol Alertness Month" he came to a decision that he would give his attention to the following three topics for a class project: the symptoms of alcoholism, alcoholic symptoms, and the signs of alcoholism. After Mr. Johnson finalized the topics that would be dispensed to his students, he decided that he would furnish them with their assignment the following Thursday morning. When "assignment day" eventually came, Mr. Johnson met with the students in his class, dispersed some relevant research data, and then told his class about the topics he hand picked. He then gave the students in his class a synopsis of some relevant signs of alcoholism and highlighted how vital it is to learn how to relate these symbols, facts, and statistics with the real-life experiences of alcohol addicted individuals. He then gave the students in his class a short and to the point articulation about the significance of learning more about alcoholics and how they exist on a daily basis. Mr. Johnson told the pupils in his classroom that they could concentrate on one of the three topics or research all three topics and how they are interlinked. In essence this would be comparable to a general abstract but done more completely. Another option that he provided for the students in his class was the following: decide on a topic such as alcohol addiction symptoms and signs, dig into things in a more comprehensive manner, and then discuss three or four symptoms and signs. Mr. Johnson then remarked that the same rationale applies to the other two topics, specifically, alcoholic symptoms and the symptoms of alcoholism. The end result of their research project would be a eight thousand word term paper and then a twenty-five minute oral presentation that would be presented in front of the class. As compensation for their extraordinary scholarly attainment, the pupils with the top four overall grades on the term paper and on the presentation will be invited to present the results of their research investigation at the community chemical dependency convention during the last six days of April. As noted by Mr. Johnson, because there are numerous alcoholism signs and symptoms to select, he pointed out the fact that he was not exceedingly fretful about two or more students selecting the same signs and symptoms for their research project. Indeed, even if two or more students were to choose identical signs and symptoms, the illustrations that are related to each sign or symptom would certainly add enough assortment to keep away from duplication of content. Mr. Johnson then remarked that while there are more than a few alcohol dependency symptoms and signs that could be selected, the magnitude of alcoholism statistics and facts that could be mentioned were virtually inexhaustible. When the topic of alcoholic symptoms was added to the discussion, additionally, the students in the classroom grasped quite quickly that the three topics would supply a huge amount of material from which to pick. Why did Mr. Johnson decide upon the symptoms of alcoholism, alcoholic symptoms, and the signs of alcoholism as the topics for this research project? Mr. Johnson thought that by augmenting the understanding of his students about the negative consequences of alcoholism and the dreary daily lives suffered by alcohol addicted people, his pupils might think more sensibly before they got caught up in careless drinking behavior.
